Meta released Muse on Tuesday, an AI agent designed to assist users with tasks, marking the company's first major push into agentic AI. It is the company's first significant update in the consumer AI space since the launch of Meta AI in 2023.
Meta reported over 83,000 iOS downloads in the U.S. within days of the app's release, according to Sensor Tower. That compares with over 4.3 million downloads for Threads on its launch day and 108,000 for Meta AI.
Muse is built on Meta's agentic AI framework and targets everyday users looking for assistance with daily tasks. Availability began on Tuesday, initially for U.S. users only.
"Muse is a step toward making AI more useful in people's lives," said a Meta spokesperson. "We believe agents that help users accomplish tasks will be the future of consumer AI."
The announcement follows Meta's recent rebranding to focus on its metaverse ambitions and its ongoing efforts to expand into consumer AI. The company did not say how long Muse will remain in the U.S. only, and its Android version has yet to achieve significant traction, ranking No. 338 in the Productivity category on Google Play.
